Taxi Experiences - Your taxi stories

Further to our bad experience we had during our ride back home, i would like to lodge a complain on the driver who claims to be “Robert” driving the trans cab with plate number of SHC5669C during the time 1925 to 2000.
We took the cab from Vivo City. The moment we took the cab and said that we want to go to west coast road, he replied me in an unhappy tone saying he don’t know how to go there. So i kindly told him that i want to go by west coast highway. Me and my fiance was talking to each other and noticed he was going to AYE which was not the way that we wanted. So we reminded him again kindly to go by west coast highway and he told us going by AYE is faster but we insisted on west coast highway and there, he said “nonsense. I’m already in the lane now you ask me go by west coast highway.” As stated earlier we already mentioned that we want to go by west coast highway from the start of the journey.
Then we told him that he was being rude to call us nonsense and started shouting at us. We took a video for an evidence as he kept twisting his words and said that we are saying bad word calling him rude when rude was not a vulgarity.
He even used his phone while driving trying to take a video of us and almost causing an accident as he kept steering violently and both his hands was not on the wheel.
When my fiance ask if he knows who is he as he was taking photo of my fiance, he shouted “I DONT CARE IF YOU ARE A SULTAN OF JOHOR OR SOME VIP”. This may cause a big issue because he was discriminating the sultan of Johor.
After a long argument I told him that my father will be coming down and we are going to call the police to settle this case as he was almost causing an accident while driving and being rude to us.
So after he spoke to my father, he then shouted at my fiance to pay the taxi fare. All we wanted was him to apologize sincerely to us and we would definitely forget the matter as we are very forgiving couple.
He kept insisting he had done nothing wrong when he had caused so much unhappiness. So then we decided to just pay him and forget about the matter as we knew that he would never apologize.
But when he was driving away, he threatened my fiance that people will come find him and beat him up until he dies as he knows where we live and shouted “fuck you” at him after we wished him to have a long prosper life.
We are so upset to have encountered such drivers when we are all Singaporeans and we should be living in an harmonious life.
If really he claims that he had his taxi license in 1980 I’m not sure why he don’t know the way and how he could not go to the way we wanted.

I was driving on CTE (City), near the exit to Serangoon road today (22 Mar 2017) at 1.40pm. The above-mentioned Silvercab, license SHC6071U, was on the lane next to mine, and behind me. The driver of that taxi wanted to overtake me, but instead of waiting till there was a chance to do so safely, he swerved towards my vehicle, hoping to overtake me from behind. There was no way I could have dodged or allowed him to overtake, and the driver sounded his horn at me repeatedly, before returning to his own lane.
Although there was thankfully no collision, this had been a reckless and rude move on the driver’s part, and I hope that you take a serious view on this matter as well. As someone who makes a living from driving, such careless behaviour will make the roads a dangerous place to be on.

I got this taxi driver at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. He told me there is a surcharge of $2. I told him that I always took taxi from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal home and there isn’t any surcharge on top of the normal fare. He says yes, there is a screen indicated a surcharge of $2 at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal Taxi Stand. He even told me there is a Yellow Top Taxi Company which I can call later on to check base on the Receipt. I reached my destination , paid the fare , collected the receipt and went home. Later then I realised that there isn’t any taxi company telephone on the receipt and there isn’t any yellow top taxi company at all, means top yellow taxi is own by oneself not under a company!! …. Can anyone please help me.

The taxi driver did not pick me up although I had booked for the taxi 1.5 hour in advance. The fact that I had booked a taxi in advance was that I needed to be on time and knowing that it was Friday evening, it would difficult to catch a taxi especially from where I was.
The taxi driver did not come to pick me and neither did he nor the SMRT taxi stand call me about it. I waited for about 10 mins and I called the SMRT taxi stand. It was only then that I was told that the driver wanted to cancel the booking. They said that they would try to get another taxi for me but asked that I also try to get a taxi by myself.

We were collected from the airport and told that the NETS machine wasn’t working (it seemed to be switched on though) but that he took cash. He spent the entire journey talking on his hands free and playing with his phone on the dash, barely even looked at the road. When I asked him to he got argumentative. Dropped us off and shouted that he had no change for a $50, so suggested I should ‘follow him’ to get my change (I’m 7 months pregnant and had just got off a 12hr flight). In the end he rudely drove off with my money and reappeared 15 mins later with change. He was rude and aggressive not to mention a dangerous driver. Avoid!

WATCH OUT FOR SMRT TAXI VEHICLE # SHC4366H
I was waiting behind SMRT Taxi vehicle SHC4366H at the ESSO gas station on Sembawang Road at 5pm on 8 March 2017. When he finished paying for his petrol, he refused to move away from the pump so other people could use it. There was a line of about 5 vehicle waiting to get petrol. He was either texting or using the Internet on his phone.
The ESSO attended politely asked him to move forward so other cars could use the pump. The taxi driver began yelling a the attendant and screaming profanity.
I politely approached the taxi and asked the driver to please pull forward to the proper parking area so I could refuel. He said “”You are a stupid foreigner. You wait for me. I do not wait for you. This is my country.”” I paused for a moment and asked him again to please move his car so I could get petrol. He started screaming racist remarks and told me he wanted to fight me in the parking lot. He would not stop yelling profanity and racist comments. He got out of his taxi and kept getting in my face demanding I fight him.
I moved to another pump, and the taxi driver continued to scream at me while I was pumping petrol. He would not leave the pump or the gas station. I ignored his remarks and took a picture of his vehicle number. I reported him to SMRT. I hope it helps.
I refuse to use SMRT Taxi services anymore. It is unsafe to have a Taxi driver who is racist and violent driving people around. I am glad that this particular taxi driver was not driving my wife and kids.
I use Singapore Taxi services quite often and SMRT Taxi has lost my business until they deal with this particular driver.

This taxi driver was an unfriendly and unpleasant man who was a very careless driver. The other passengers and I felt unsafe riding with him. He was swerving into other lanes, not stopping at pedestrian crossings and nearly hit an elderly man in an HDB car park. I am unsure if his eyesight was poor or if he was just a negligent driver. Regardless, it was a horrible experience.
